Donna's Dish of the Week! Steamed Broccoli

If I had to pick one food that would do the most to help fight disease and promote good health, it would be broccoli. Why?

First, broccoli is a great source of antioxidants and may enhance your health by reducing inflammation, improving blood sugar control, boosting immunity, and promoting heart and eye health.

Of course, broccoli contains a variety of nutrients including vitamin C, vitamin K, iron, and potassium, but it also contains both types of fiber which is important for gut health. Having a healthy gut makes it possible to absorb nutrients in food efficiently and keeps serotonin production humming. Maintaining proper serotonin levels in the body improves mood and sleep.

Finally, broccoli is one of the rare cruciferous vegetables that has cancer fighting properties.
